HISTORYSebastian was born in 1924, in Rome N.Y., and grew up in the midst of the depression. At 6mo old his baby picture was used on the milk cartons. At 6 years old he began to draw. At 15 he won an award for a painting. At age 19, Sebastian fought in WWII in the Navy. He survived the horror with many tales to tell, as well as a view of his own version of the tabloids, in paintings. Sebastian then attended Syracuse University in the Study of Fine Arts, on the G.I. Bill, and graduated in the class of 51. His expositions earned him several awards, best of show and many reviews. Sebastian Painting diligently, until the age 86. He wrote of "climbing those 13 steps to go into battle..."*INTERVIEW* He left his wife Antoinette, 7 children, 10 Grand children, and 2 great Grand children with a legacy and Estate of unscaled worth. He left a house like a small library packed with hundreds of books, mostly art books, and nearly 1000 paintings. He has been honored in the Arts, was the founding father of The Rome Art Community Center, and has been featured in several Newspaper articles. Hundreds of people attended his wake, to leave homage to this great man, mentor, artist, friend, father, husband, and WWII VET. The service was held in Utica New York, adjacent to Domenicos Cafe, coffee shop, with Kim Domenico as pastor, and the 7 children giving homage in speach, poems and song. On the walls hung 17 self portraits. Those who know him and his work know him as a MASTER, a scholar and an inspiration.
