SHOW AT THE FAMOUS BARRISTERS GALLERY IN NEW ORLEANS BY D. ERIC BOOKHARDT
"THE GOTH MOVEMENT morphed from Patti Smith and Ozzy Osborne to Joel Peter Witkin and Marilyn Manson, and now "SCARYMARY SANTA" is haunting the hallowed halls of art with her recent goth graphics at Barristers. I had assumed her paintings would imbue the perverse theatricality of her band Fatal Beauties, and her BAD GIRLS SERIES doe's indeed display a shorthand, graffitti-like aspect (like the ghost of Keith Haring in ANNE RICE drag). But her more involved paintings reveal a suprisingly taut expressionistic impetus, an intricate automony that hark to James Ensor, and Ivan Albright- and that really is sort of scary. "SCARYMARY" mirrors the darkly egnimatic Lilith and Lestat mythologies of the late millennial America." ...Eric Bookhardt...ART PAPERS
